BU Softball Team Wins Fourth-Consecutive Patriot League Championship

After a nine-game winning streak entering the postseason, the BU softball team won its fourth-consecutive Patriot League Championship in May. The team has won every Patriot League championship since 2023. BU hosted the tournament this year, which may have helped contribute to the win since their record at the BU Softball Field is 21–1. The tournament’s MVP was senior pitcher Kasey Ricard, who allowed only two hits and struck out seven batters in the championship game.

BU Women’s Hockey Heads to Belfast for Inaugural Women’s Friendship Series

The Boston University women’s hockey team rang in the new year abroad, traveling to Belfast, Northern Ireland, to play in the inaugural women’s Friendship Series—the only NCAA Division I women’s ice hockey tournament held outside North America. The Friendship Series celebrates the official sister-city relationship between Boston and Belfast, blending elite hockey with cultural and community engagement.

BU’s Jack Parker Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame

Jack Parker (Questrom’68, Hon.’97) is BU’s first inductee into the Hockey Hall of Fame. In 40 seasons coaching Boston University’s men’s hockey, Parker notched 897 victories—second among all active coaches nationally when he retired in 2013. He led the Terriers to three national championships and six Hockey East titles, while earning three coach of the year awards.

Women’s Ice Hockey Wins First Hockey East Title in Ten Years

In their first championship since 2015, the BU women’s ice hockey Terriers snagged their sixth Hockey East title on March 8, defeating Northeastern University 3-2 in overtime. Head coach Tara Watchorn was also named the New England Division I Coach of the Year, becoming the first individual to win the Joe Bertagna Trophy as both a player and a coach.

BU Wins 32nd Beanpot Title, Beating BC 4-1

Boston University’s men’s hockey Terriers defeated the No. 1–ranked Boston College Eagles at TD Garden February 10, 2025. After falling behind in the first period, the Terriers won their record 32nd Beanpot Championship with a 4-1 victory.

BU’s Macklin Celebrini Is NHL’s Top Draft Pick

Men’s hockey phenom Macklin Celebrini became the second Terrier drafted first overall, joining goaltender Rick DiPietro (CAS’01), who  went first overall in 2000. Besides becoming the fourth Terrier to win the Hobey Baker and leading BU to the Frozen Four, Celebrini’s honors include National Rookie of the Year, First Team All-American, and Hockey East Player of the Year.

BU Softball Claims Patriot League Title

After seven innings of scoreless softball sent the game to extra innings Saturday, Boston University scored the title game’s only run to claim the Terriers’ fifth Patriot League title in six seasons.  

Undefeated in conference play and 52-4-1 overall, the No. 21/22 Terriers defeated Lehigh (32-20) 1-0 at the BU Softball Field on May 11.  

In a matchup of the Patriot League’s two highest-scoring offenses, defense and pitching would define this year’s title match. Second baseman Brooke Deppiesse (CAS’26, Questrom’26) broke through in the eighth, stroking the game’s only extra-base hit, a double, and later scoring on a fielding error. Allison Boaz (ENG’23, GRS’24) pitched 6.1 shutout innings before PL Pitcher of the Year Kasey Ricard (Sargent’26) would strike out the side to secure Patriot League gold.

BU Men’s Hockey heads to Frozen Four for Second Consecutive Year

The No. 2–ranked BU Terriers battled to a 28-9-2 record in pursuit of their sixth national title. They were dynamic all season, scoring the fourth-highest goals-per-game (GPG), 4.15, while conceding 2.44 GPG—good for the fourth-best margin in college hockey (2.72). BU beat RIT 6-3 on March 28, and then Minnesota by the same score on March 30, to win the Sioux Falls Regional. BU is led on offense by freshman sensation and Hobey Baker finalist Macklin Celebrini (CAS’27), whose 23 goals in 23 Hockey East games is a conference record.

Men’s Soccer Wins Patriot League Title

BU men’s soccer team won its first-ever Patriot League title. The Terriers defeated Lafayette, 1-0. The Terriers won the Patriot League regular season with a 10-3-4 record, a 7-1-1 mark in conference play.
