Nick Bates
Director
As the Director of The Howard Thurman Center for Common Ground, Nick is deeply engaged with the legacy of Howard and Sue Bailey Thurman. Nick has expertise in equity initiatives, gender, sexuality, and crisis management. Nick is dedicated to fostering environments that promote civil discourse, healthy identity development and contextualizes socialized perceptions of race, ethnicity, gender, and sexuality. Nick is a founding member of The Patriot League Anti-Racism Commission, Boston University Staff Advisory Council, and Boston University’s Presidential Taskforce on Workplace Culture. He currently serves as Chair for The Placement Exchange.
