Music

The ideal format for submission of sound or music files is M4A or MP3 files. M4A refers to a specific audio compression falling under the MPEG-4 umbrella, with uses AAC audio compression. Files encoded as an M4A will include the file extension of .m4a or .mp4. A song ripped from a CD to iTunes will be automatically saved as an M4A file. Another acceptable file format is MP3.

Music downloaded from the iTunes music store, or any other online music catalog can present challenges when being transferred from the computer of origin. Music purchased digitally often contains Digital Rights Management (DRM), which disables music from being transferred to multiple machines. Therefore, music purchased online often fails to play once transferred to our computer.
