Dr. Lauren E. Barber is a cancer epidemiologist whose research focuses on understanding the contributions of social, environmental, and behavioral factors to racial disparities in cancer incidence and outcomes. Her work investigates the neighborhood environment, sleep, and circadian health as potential risk and prognostic factors for cancer, particularly among Black women. Dr. Barber’s current research leverages prospective cohort, cancer registry, and area-level data to examine the impact of neighborhoods, poor sleep, and circadian disruption on breast cancer risk and outcomes among Black women. Her research aims to identify modifiable factors that can inform strategies to prevent cancer, improve cancer outcomes, and reduce racial disparities.
