Kasey Cox

Kasey is a second year Master of Divinity student specializing in Religion and Conflict Transformation. She graduated from Stetson University in 2009 with a B.A. in Religious Studies and Spanish. She loves to travel and enjoys learning about other cultures. She expresses how she especially benefited from her study abroad experience in Madrid, Spain, where she not only learned the language but also experienced the richness of Spanish culture.
She writes, “I applied to the Religion and Conflict Transformation Program because I am passionate about furthering interfaith dialogue and believe that understanding of the “other” is the key to peace. This passion began when I was sixteen and had the opportunity to get involved with People to People International’s Student Ambassador Program. I travelled to Australia and New Zealand as an ambassador, learning about international relations and fostering “Peace through Understanding,” the program’s motto. I became concerned about the role of religion in conflict through my studies at Stetson University. Studying the many injustices caused by religion and culture, I realized that our current state of pluralism calls for the practice of humanization, hospitality, and open dialogue with the “other.” Through my studies at Boston University, the Boston Theological Institute, and beyond, I hope to contribute to peace by means of religious reconciliation.”
