Peacemaking Circle Contextual Education Internship

Students who join the Peacemaking Circle Contextual Education Internship will gain practical leadership experience in being a circle keeper at BU School of Theology with 1-2 other students. Interns co-keep bi-weekly talking circles, create immersive experiences grounded in circle principles and practices (such as a retreat, workshop, or training), and may be invited to co-keep conflict or restorative circles.

To be considered students must have completed the summer course Peacemaking Circles or have an equivalent experience approved by the Director.

Student Intern Testimony: “The RCT program is the reason I chose to study theology at Boston University. This program is so unique in that it combines theoretical with practical approaches to conflict transformation. This program gave me a space to learn, grow, practice, and deepen my own capacity as a peacebuilder, healer, and minister. As an RCT intern, I gained hands-on experience as a circle keeper. I learned so much from my fellow co-keepers Jess Pulling and Daniela Harrigan, and from every person who came to circle. Circles have taught me that we get to choose how we want to be in relationship with each other. Each circle is an opportunity to ask, “how do we want to be together?” (as taught by Harold and Phil Gatensby). This simple, but profound question can be the foundation for how we relate to others in just and peaceful ways. I hope to bring this question to future spaces where I am called to serve.” Anna Jeide-Detweiler, MDiv ’25
