When you think of work attire in the communications field, what comes to mind? Plain, boring black and white suits? Boxy fits and huge laptop bags? If you’re worried about needing to buy yourself a brand new wardrobe of pieces you hate for the sake of wearing proper attire, fear not. I have compiled a list of five different outfits for every day of the week that you can mix-and-match straight out of your own closet for interviews, client meetings, and more. For those of you who need to go shopping, you can breathe a sigh of relief and know that there’s something for everyone that’s both stylish and professional.
Outfit #1: Monday
Since Monday is the beginning of the week, let’s start off looking polished for that potential interview, but with a little fun to showcase your personality. Stripes, puffed sleeves, and ruffles add a feminine touch to a standard button-down blouse. For bottoms, keep it simple with a pair of classic black dress pants and black pumps.
Outfit #2: Tuesday
On Tuesday, we can take a break from traditional black shoes and slip on a pair of white ones instead. They match well with a beige blazer and shoulder bag, making you feel lighter with every step during the daily grind.
Outfit #3: Wednesday
It’s the middle of the week, a point in which some people might start to lose energy. To reignite your motivation and purpose for client work and meetings, put on a matching full suit in your favorite neutral color and high heels. This outfit exudes confidence, power, and determination, three things that will help you get back into the swing of agency life when you feel overwhelmed during a busy week.
Outfit #4: Thursday
Who said that looking professional had to be looking “plain”? You can rock this look or a similar one at agency events or simply for a pick-me-up on any Thursday. The pieces (dress pants and a blouse) are still professional and polished, but the colors and details will certainly make you one of the most memorable people in the room for that day.
Outfit #5: Friday
Finish the week strong and look forward to date/friends night in a cream-colored blouse, crisp black pants, and ballet flats. These pieces are super versatile and can easily go from work to play. Top off the look with your favorite handbag to carry all your essentials!
