| Brand: In an assize of novel disseisin the defendant pleaded in respect of part of the land that he had entered through a third party by his charter of feoffment and so had done no wrong. The plaintiff reiterated that he had been seised till disseised by the defendant. An anonymous justice is quoted for the view that a charter is not in itself dispositive but merely evidence of a feoffment. |
