Commentary & Paraphrase
Lords argued that their rents ought not be subject to the 'fifteenths' tax, but that their tenants should pay from their animals and other moveable goods. The Justices' hypotheticals were all phrased from the point of view of lords, not tenants.
Sjt Skrene referred to 1405.097 = Mich. 7 Hen. 4, pl. 21, fol. 33b: If I lease land for a term of years, or a life term, rendering to me a certain rent, my farmer (termor) will pay for his goods, and I will pay nothing for my rent, as was adjudged, etc.)
Other cases against collectors of fifteenths included 1405.073 = Mich. 7 Hen. 4, pl. 35, fol. 6a (replevin) and 1405.097 = Mich. 7 Hen. 4, pl. 21, fol. 33b (attachment sur prohibition) and 1409.077 = Mich. 11 Hen. 4, pl. 66, 34b-37a (trespass)
