Andrew Sabelhaus
Assistant Professor (ME, SE Appointed)
Dr. Andrew Sabelhaus is the director of the Soft Robotics Control Lab at Boston University. He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Division of Systems Engineering at BU.
Dr. Sabelhaus has a deep commitment to building diverse and inclusive organizations, with a long history in advocacy within universities and professional societies. He has been a Faculty/Staff Advisor for both BU’s and Carnegie Mellon’s chapters of Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (oSTEM), a national organization for LGBTQ+ scientists and engineers. He sees structural inequality from a personal perspective, and treats daily interactions and mentoring as the truest fixes to the “leaky pipeline” of talented diverse engineers. The SRC Lab reflects this commitment.
