POEMS
GORAN SONNEVI
from
Mozart's Third Brain
LIV
I do not want to be in the comparisons Where
inner death alone exists But the fundamentals
Similarities Differences Continuum Division
The bifurcated storm Mobile Immobile
The huge wing will rise up out of the earth
The blue eyelids fall shimmering toward the shores
The white point deepest inside the storm utterly black
The great light unfolds, like rustling silk wings,
from the invisible Dragonfly wings Butterfly wings Or
the wings of the angel of Annihilation In their transparent darkness
Over and over again the movement for social
justice begins After all the aborted attempts
The light of genesis Each time new in its revelation Epi–
phanies, unavoidable
Return, repetition, not even logically possible....
The brutal streak in the young Ezra Pound, when in the face of the war's
mass sla ughter
he thought it better if a few at the top were killed .... Here
is the entrance to his darkness The throne of Rhadamanthys shines
dark gold in the darkness Around it the righteous swarm
But this is of no use
If
the language that comes is not language What
shall I do then? Wait for silence Language without language
erects its walls Intolerable heat Banners of dust
