SONNET
after Rilke
Will transformation.
We·liked the white
that helped feed on you. The earth
from far away the god is the place
that heals. Torn open by us ever and
again, only the dead drink ...
we always overtake ... all things want to float
but straight. Dance the orange
in the trampled meadow, see that you
do not like to know
about the creature that does not
exist. One horn. And this gave the
creature such strength, it took away the days.
We are only what we praise.

THE MARBLE FAUN
Daytimes it's eating and food
It's not that I've a wish to imitate
Nights working and books
Or be another
But as all men and women want to be like or unlike
A particular mother
The milk for yogurt cools down
I wish it would cool faster
