Two Poems by Alberto de Lacerda
COMPLETELY NEW
To enter a completely new place
Through a door never previously
Imagined
(To be able to float
Finally)
To light the lights
The gods let go out
To inhabit the recesses
Fear had refused
There
You
will find
The wrinkled hands
Of the new born the old and of certain
Statues
That the centuries have loved
After a fashion
To the desert I'll bequeath
My empty hands :
Successive
doors
and doors
