A lone figure, stringy mop of
hair blowing in the wind, sat
straddled on the rail, his eyes
fixed on the skyline, his arnlS
hugging his waist. The collar
of his pea-green army sweater
was drawn tightly around the
chin, like a cuirass. When the
mouth gaped, one could almost
discern a thin spout of water
from protuberant gargoyle lips
... "It's gonna crush me," it
c r i e d. "It's gonna crush
meeeee...."

Dear Mr. Rahv:
Of course. Poor doctor; I for–
got about all that. Eavesdrop–
pers everywhere. Quite accu–
rate.
Now, I insist you use my real
name, Gregory Corso, and my
real poem, BOMB; let's have
no eggshell fiction between my
yolk and yr public - no cello–
phane masks, sir. I suggest you
check up on that doctor's
French, the plusses seem rather
minus to me. Yrs as you
wiil
have me,
Gregory Corso
Something like this should be
published after a man is dead,
but I guess there's just not
enough time. Go ahead and
print it, and I appreciate your
asking me if it's all right.
"James Norman, who
fought in the Spanish Civil
War, now has written a
novel about his experiences.
It is a superior piece of work
-there is an interesting, su–
spenseful story, and there is
a vivid recreation of the
passions, treachery and
heroism of the times."
