Dr. Bohland’s research focuses on understanding the structural and functional architecture of neural systems in the human brain, with emphasis on those that support speech and language processes. He uses an integrative approach that combines computational, informatics, and brain imaging methods to inform contemporary theories of speech / language function. Additional areas of focus include the analysis of large datasets including neuroimaging and gene expression data, with the ultimate goal of linking the molecular / genetic level of organization to the neural circuits / systems, and behavioral levels.
