Our keynote speaker this year is Dr. Justin Shaffer of California State, Fresno.

Justin Shaffer is an Assistant Professor of Microbiology in the Department of Biology in the College of Science and Mathematics at California State University, Fresno. He is an Associate Research Scientist with the University of California, San Francisco, and co-founder of Mycrobial Community Consulting. He is a member of the Mycological Society of America, and Co-Content Editor for the California Lichen Society. He has over two dozen scientific articles. His work has highlighted the importance of fungal microbiomes to plant-fungus interactions, and the use of multi-omics approaches when assessing functional potential in microbial communities.
