The MET Educational Technology & Innovation (ETI) team monitors the latest advances in higher education and evaluates emerging technologies that can be applied in the classroom. ETI works closely with faculty and students to:

  • Introduce academic technology into the learning environment
  • Encourage the adoption of new technology
  • Reduce the learning curve during implementation
  • Create an environment that increases engagement and supports experimentation
  • Develop support services and best practices

Spanning all delivery formats—from the traditional on-campus setting to online learning—the ETI utilizes the latest technological and pedagogical advances to create the best possible learning environment for students.

Overview of Capabilities

The Educational Technology & Innovation office actively monitors the latest advancements in educational technologies—including online content development and tools for management and collaboration—and oversees their implementation in the classroom.

ETI supports blended courses and programs at Metropolitan College. Known as “eLive,” MET’s blended format was introduced in 2008 to combine the singular advantages of online and on-campus education. Devised for professionals seeking a traditional classroom experience that could accommodate busy work schedules and other commitments, courses in the blended format consist of several on-campus class meetings throughout the semester paired with ongoing online study, including student-to-student and student-to-faculty collaboration.

The ETI team works closely with MET IT and BU’s Information Services & Technology (IS&T) to ensure smooth delivery of class content and reliable support. For more information about blended formats, see the MET blended learning page.
