Anthony Yacovone joins us this fall as a new Assistant Professor!

Anthony is a specialist in psycholinguistics and child language acquisition. He received his PhD from Harvard University in 2023, working with Jesse Snedeker. His research involves the use of methods such as neuroimaging, eye-tracking, and computational modeling to better understand how language develops, functions, and adapts in complex, real-world environments. He is especially interested in questions involving prediction and inference in language, which he has investigated in both spoken and signed languages. Fun fact: Anthony’s first academic conference, which he participated in while still an undergraduate at UMass Amherst, was BUCLD. He now plays a key role as one of that conference’s faculty advisors, as we approach its 50 year anniversary celebration this fall. Welcome, Anthony!
