Nervara

Nervara is developing a miniature wireless neuromodulation implant for pain treatment.

Nervara is developing an incision-free, biodegradable implant smaller than 10 mm³ that uses microwave technology to block pain signals for patients with chronic pain, particularly those experiencing persistent pain after knee replacement surgery. The device can be injected through a standard medical catheter without requiring surgery, uses an external power source to enable its miniature size, and switches between two neuromodulation mechanisms to maintain long-term effectiveness. Nervara is led by Carolyn Marar (ENG’25) and Yueming Li (ENG’24).
