CELT Support for Massachusetts Agencies and Municipalities
Data analyses, training, and support for municipal clean energy transitions across Massachusetts.
Expertise in Data Science
High-quality, actionable data is essential to decision-making for clean energy policies and projects. Through its Institute for Global Sustainability, Boston University brings expertise in data science to the Clean Energy and Environment Legacy Transition (CELT) Initiative.
The BU team leads the collection and curation of data for an equitable energy transition in Massachusetts, transforming existing data into accessible visualizations, stories, and analyses. These tools help governments and stakeholders make informed decisions that enhance climate resilience, reduce costs, and accelerate decarbonization. With this support, municipalities and regional organizations can prioritize sustainable infrastructure, track progress toward carbon reduction goals, allocate adequate assistance to disadvantaged communities, and ensure that investments in clean energy projects are efficient and equitable.
Interdisciplinary Approach
The BU research team’s interdisciplinary expertise spans energy systems, geographic information systems, environmental justice, and stakeholder engagement.
