New BU study shows home insulation can save lives and cut carbon emissions cost-effectively
BU Professor of Public Health and ISE affiliate Jonathan Levy just published a new study explaining the cost-effectiveness and public health benefits of home insulation. On a national average basis, the study finds that the monetized public health benefits of home insulation in New England are $49 per ton of carbon dioxide reduced. The study is unique for its ability to quantify state-by-state public health benefits, also known as co-benefits, from home insulation programs. This study was funded by the National Insulation Manufacturers Association.
