Student Affairs

The Historical Society proposes to steer our profession through a rapidly changing age. The acid test of our performance will be the extent to which our activities engage the participation and enthusiastic support of the young colleagues who will determine the course of our profession in the coming years. Hence, we are determined to make the society's meetings and activities especially attractive and hospitable to students and young professors, as well as independent scholars and other historians unattached to colleges and universities. This project requires a maximum effort to bring established professors in direct contact with graduate students and young professors with similar specialties and interests. (More than 10 percent of our members are, in fact, graduate students).
