A First-generation Graduate Student is a student whose parents/guardians/caregivers did not earn a master’s, doctorate, or professional degree, such as a JD or MD. (Even if your parents/guardians/caregivers have a bachelor’s degree, but don’t have an advanced degree, you would be considered a first-generation graduate student.)
