As the Assistant Director for Systems and Operations, Ryan Keane manages operations and systems for the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO), which provides immigration support services to thousands of international students and scholars each year. He develops and enhances internal and university systems and system integrations that support immigration case management and SEVIS data transfer to ensure timely and accurate institutional reporting and compliance.
Prior to this role, Ryan was the Assistant Director of Student Services and managed and supervised the immigration processing, advising, and related outreach services provided by ISSO’s Undergraduate International Student Advising team. Before moving into his Assistant Director roles, Ryan was an International Student Advisor and a Senior International Student Coordinator.
Prior to joining BU, he worked as a science teacher at the International High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts and as a placement manager for international scholars at Laspau, a non-profit organization affiliated with Harvard University.
Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Education in High School Biology from Lesley University, and a Doctoral Degree in Ecology from Imperial College London. He also completed an undergraduate study abroad program in Tropical Biology in Costa Rica. Ryan enjoys hiking and backpacking, cycling, and playing board games.
