BUSPH Public Health Post Fellowship Opportunity
The launch of Public Health Post (PHP), a new venture housed at SPH that aspires to elevate the conversation on public health. The goal of the website is to facilitate an ideas-first dialogue around public health that focuses on the drivers of population health. We seek to engage policymakers, journalists, and academics who can make change on a local, state, national, and global scale. We aspire to foster an online portal that is fresh, fun, and appealing to people across sectors; to feature work from across the world; and to become the go-to-place for the public health conversation.
Fellows play a prominent role in the creation and dissemination of content.
The ideal candidate is an…
-excellent writer passionate about public health,
-comfortable with social media
-well-organized and creative
-Graphic design, WordPress, and other web skills are a plus
Fellows will report to Editor-in-Chief David Jones and Project Manager Melissa Davenport. Fellows will be expected to produce one new article per week, working on average 15 hours per week, and will receive a stipend of $10,000 for the year. African Food and Peace Foundation Annual Dinner and Fundraiser
Aid for Africa is a charity alliance of U.S.-based nonprofits and their African partners working to help children, families, and communities throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
AFPF’s 2016 Annual Dinner and Fundraiser will be held on November 3 at the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square. The Dinner and Fundraiser will raise funds for the innovative, rural development projects by our partner organizations Uganda Rural Development and Training Program (URDT) and African Rural University (ARU). It will also be a great opportunity for BUSPH students, faculty, and staff to engage with influential female African leadership. The Dinner and Fundraiser will feature guest speaker Her Excellency Oliver Wonekha, the Ugandan Ambassador to the United States. Throughout her career, Ambassador Wonekha has addressed agricultural issues and has been outspoken on education for women and girls. The Dinner and Fundraiser will be held from 6pm to 9pm at the Charles Hotel in Harvard Square at 1 Bennett Street, Cambridge, MA 02138. Individual tickets are available for purchase here. Global Health Internship Program: AMOS Hope and Health
Amos Internship Program Description
In our Global Health Practicum + Internship program, students remain at AMOS for five additional weeks (or 200 additional hours) after the practicum to work on projects that have been identified as priority areas by the communities we work with and our primary health care team. Internship teams in the past have contributed to project areas that include: Women's Empowerment, Youth Empowerment, Urban Health, and Nutrition.
*All interns must be a part of the Global Health Practicum before their internship.

Global Health Practicum: AMOS Hope and Health
AMOS Health Practicum Description
Objective: Each summer, AMOS provides a three-week, 120-hour Global Health Practicum course that aims to empower a socially-conscious generation of public health workers. Fostering critical analysis of international health development and social theories of power and privilege, the practicum studies current models and methodologies for improving health in low-resource settings.
Practicum Activities: Students examine current models and methodologies for improving health in low-resource settings over three weeks (or 120 hours). This experience teaches students to build on community strengths and facilitate strategic community empowerment to improve health outcomes. The course will introduce participants to community-based primary healthcare practices and provide hands-on training in rural communities.The Global Health Practicum has no language requirement.
