Project Title: Investigating the impact of extreme heat waves in India

Description Statement:
The 2015 summer heat wave in India was devastating, with over 1000 persons known to have died as a result. The 2016 summer is likely to be even hotter due to the strong El Nino effect this year, which is strongly correlated with heat waves in south Asia. The student would help with an ongoing research project in the Earth and Environment Department of CAS and coordinated through the Pardee Center for the study of the Longer Range Future, on the impact of heat waves in India.
Scope of Work:
The RA will work independently to collect relevant articles on the public health and health impacts of extreme heat and produce an annotated bibliography on the topic.
Minimum skills required/desired:
Student should have familiarity with the format and objective of an annotated bibliography. Student should have experience in literature review and systematic searches for articles on specific topic areas. Student should have familiarity with Mendeley or similar reference manager.
Time / Date Expectations :
It is anticipated that 5-8 hours a week would be required for this work.
