Data Visualization

More Info:

Health programs and decision makers are routinely swimming in data. While we often invest time in analyzing and understanding what the data says, less effort is made around understanding who our audience is, how they interact with information, and designing visualizations that communicate effectively..

Transforming raw data and analytic outputs into simple, impactful visuals helps you clearly communicate with policymakers, journalists, and decisionmakers who often have very limited time to review your documents. In this workshop, we’ll walk through a series of simple steps for identifying your visualization type and designing your visualization, learn from visualization examples from Amanda’s work around the work, and practice designing clear, impactful graphs, charts ,and other visualizations.

MPH students who work with data, are expected to build presentations and reports, and who have limited experience in graphic design will find this workshop useful. A basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and a laptop are required for the hands-on part of the workshop.

*Note: this workshop will qualify as a required practicum workshop for those looking to fulfill that requirement. Attendance will betaken at the workshop.
