The Global Health Group is an “action tank,” dedicated to identifying, elaborating and translating innovative solutions to major global health challenges into large-scale action, to advance health and save lives in low- and middle-income countries. The Global Health Group works across the spectrum, from conducting research and policy analysis, to building consensus, to catalyzing the development and implementation of pioneering programs in collaborating countries. Organizationally, the Global Health Group is a component of UCSF Global Health Sciences. The Global Health Group’s Malaria Elimination Initiative (MEI) provides intellectual and practical leadership and support for the elimination of malaria, working from the global margins of the endemic zone inwards. The MEI recently received a 3-year grant to expand its work with a wide range of partners to gather, analyze and disseminate evidence on malaria elimination, and conduct in-country operational research, to inform national and global decision-making. JOB OVERVIEW
The MEI Program Manager will work closely with MEI Leadership and the Global Health Group (GHG) Core Team to lead monitoring and evaluation of the MEI’s results and impact. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing a monitoring and evaluation (M&E) plan for the MEI’s new grant from the Gates Foundation ($15 million / 3 years) and other grants or contracts as they are received. The MEI Program Manager will be responsible for working with MEI Project Leads to develop annual work plans, regularly tracking progress against desired results and impact against the M&E plan and project work plans, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. The MEI Program Manager will be responsible for the annual and quarterly reports to the MEI’s funders. The individual will also oversee all of the MEI’s international subcontracts and vendor contracts for complex projects. As a member of the MEI Leadership Team, the MEI Program Manager will play a leading role in the strategic planning and fundraising efforts of the initiative. The MEI Program Manager must have M&E expertise, data analysis skills, excellent report writing and data presentation skills, proven program management and leadership skills, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with changing priorities, capacity to manage many complex projects and international partners simultaneously, and be a team player. This is a full time, fully grant-funded position, reporting to the MEI Deputy Lead. The candidate will also perform other related duties.
