Qualitative Data Analysts

We are seeking BUSPH masters students for several international research projects conducted at the Center for Global Health and Development (CGHD).

The primary focus will be analyzing qualitative data from the Mozambique Orphan Study. The in-depth interview, key informant and focus group discussion transcripts are from children, caregivers, community members and service providers located throughout Mozambique. Analysts may also help with preparation of reports and other project documents. The team will work closely with Dr. Candace Miller to meet project goals in a timely and effective manner.

The following duties are part of this position.

• Reading all study materials.
• Analyzing qualitative data using Nvivo.
• Helping with the preparation of research reports and other documents as needed.
• Maintaining effective communication with project investigators and other team members to help ensure timely and high quality completion of research-related activities

Requirements:

Applicants should have experience with qualitative data and analysis. Experience with issues regarding orphan and vulnerable children is preferred. Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work well with teams, and excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Work experience in international health and development is preferred.

Students will be able to use parts of analysis for a culminating paper and can build a practicum around this work. The data analyst will have opportunities for authorship and co-authorship.

This is an unpaid position. However, it can lead to paid positions depending upon the students’ work and contribution. Previously, students who have worked in this capacity have become co-authors, have been hired at CGHD and then gone on to other amazing jobs, and have scored fabulous letters of recommendation for jobs or further schooling.

Required: 15-25 hour per week commitment for at least 6 weeks; Must be able to start immediately;
