Predeparture and arrival
Preparing properly and having the necessary information will help make your study abroad semester successful. Before arrival you must have done all that is required in the BUSA pre-departure hub pages. In addition to the pre-departure hub, you should also read from this website as it contains program specific information and if you have a question you are likely to find the answer here.
You should read the Academic Policy and from the Essentials section read the webpages up to and including I.T. Services. Also, read our webpage on Emergencies – Health & Safety. If you are interested in doing a sport or activity you should find relevant information in the Activities & Free Time section.
We suggest you read a few webpages at a time and write down any questions you might have as you go along. When you have finished reading the website email any questions to us. We will try to answer them as best we can.
The program staff will also send you the following pre-departure emails: Housing forms; University of Geneva registration (Internship & Physics); Timetable of excursions; Airport transfer information – group flight; Roommates; Timetables.
It is essential that you respond to all requests for actions and information accurately and within the deadlines. Failure to do so may jeopardize your study abroad.
Arrival day (Fall & Spring)
Students arriving on the group flight will be met at the airport and taken to the residence by bus. Students not on the group flight can take the bus if they arrive before the group flight. All students must arrive at the residence by noon on the official arrival day.
You can only live in the residence during the program dates.
If you arrive before then or stay on longer you will need to make other arrangements. There will be no exception to this rule apart from students whose internship might last longer. We cannot accept your luggage before the arrival day, but we may be able to store your luggage for a week after the departure date. For storing your luggage there is the train station at the airport: CFF baggage arcades.
If you need to find alternative accommodation there are some suggestions on our webpage:
