Culinary Arts 1 Online
Sharpen your knives and your culinary skills with this unique online program!
Study at your own pace over the course of seven weeks with a combination of step-by-step video tutorials and weekly-one-on-one sessions with chef instructor Chris Douglass. Chef Chris Douglass is lead culinary instructor of Boston University’s Professional Culinary Arts Program and former chef/owner of the award-winning Icarus, Ashmont Grill, and Tavolo.
Pastry Arts 1 Online
Are you obsessed with The Great British Baking Show? Do you often find yourself searching for the best pastries when you travel, or scouring countless cookbooks for the perfect recipe? Then this online, intensive baking course is for you.
Join Pastry Chef Janine Sciarappa as she cuts through all the mystery of the art of pastry making. She will share with you all of her tips and tricks to make the most show-stopping, Instagram-worthy pastries—all from the comfort of your own home. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to study with an experienced pastry chef.
The Wine Business
Through a combination of readings, student projects, and tastings, students will develop an in-depth understanding of the wine industry. Topics include the current state of the wine industry, sales and marketing strategies, costs and logistics, tasting wines to assess style, quality, and commercial potential, as well as sourcing and selecting wines for shops and restaurants. In addition to the core instructor, students will gain insights from guest speakers from import, distribution, retail, and restaurant sectors who will share real-life experiences and models.
Food Studies at BU Summer Term
In addition to the above noncredit courses, you may elect to take certain Food Studies courses through BU Summer Term, which can earn you units towards an academic degree or certificate.
