Programs targeted at educators

Education focused programs are for teachers who agree to serve 1-2 year contracts in exchange for a certain amount of loan forgiveness. All but one of the programs have renewable contracts. 14 states have active education programs. The maximum amount varies from $1,000 to $30,000, with an average of $11,694.

Every region of the US has 1-3 education programs. These programs are highly advantageous for teachers, as on average 37% of teachers have student loans they need to pay off. Teachers can spend up to $42,000 on a master’s in education, for an average starting salary of $44,530. Due to these salaries teachers can have high financial instability, with 18% of teachers having second jobs to make ends meet. These programs offer an opportunity for teachers to offset some of their student loan debt and entice more professionals into important job.
