Program eligibility and professional requirements

Within our database, we identified 20 programs available to education professionals, 117 programs available to healthcare and medical professionals, and 26 programs available to legal professionals. The remaining programs required a career in social work, another specified professional field such as STEM, or did not specify a required profession.

There was a median of 5 programs per state. North Dakota was the only state without any programs, while Minnesota had the most programs at 21. The majority of programs were for professions working with underserved communities, including 15 of the 20 education programs, 92 of the 117 healthcare programs, and almost all of the legal programs. While only 5 legal programs explicitly specified they were designed for underserved communities, 13 were for legal aid attorneys or those working with low income communities. 44 programs required applicants to work in rural communities, 42 of them healthcare programs.
