How the Reporting Cycle Works
- Year Round: Maintain Your Profile
- Add scholarly works, service roles, grants, and professional activities as they happen throughout the year.
- January: Reports Open
- The FAR and EIAR become available. Your pre-populated profile is the starting point, not a blank form.
- February: Submit by Unit Deadline
- Most school deadlines fall in February. Your unit sets its own deadline. Check with your department.
Pre-Submission Checklist
How My CV Decides What Appears in Your FAR
My CV uses the dates you enter on each activity to determine whether it appears in your FAR. If an activity has no end date, it will carry forward into every FAR until you add one — this is intentional for ongoing roles like committee memberships, but can cause confusion if you have completed activities with missing end dates. Before starting your FAR, scan your profile and add end dates to any activities that are no longer ongoing.
Scholarly & Creative Works
Year-Round
Claim or reject all pending publications. Unclaimed items will not appear in your FAR. My CV continuously imports records from external databases. These appear in your Publications Queue and require your attention.
Missing a publication? Add it manually, or use AI-assisted data entry to paste text from your CV, manuscript, or grant letter and let My CV extract the structured data automatically. This feature also works for grants, professional activities, and teaching activities.
Service & Professional Activities
Year-Round
Keep your service and professional activities current. Since these activities are entered manually, this is a great place to use AI-assisted data entry — paste text from your CV or other documents and let My CV extract and categorize the information automatically. The feature will also flag any potential duplicates before they are added.
Ongoing roles carry forward automatically. If a committee or service role has no end date, My CV includes it in every FAR until you add one. Before reporting season, review your existing entries and add end dates to any roles that have ended.
Ready to Submit
January-February
Your profile is pre-populated when you open your reports. Review it before you click Start.
- Review your pre-populated profile for completeness and accuracy.
- Click Start on Step 1: Faculty Annual Report (FAR) — required for your Annual Faculty Merit Review.
- Click Start on Step 2: External & International Activity Report (EIAR) — required for Conflict of Commitment Policy compliance.
- Submit before your unit deadline.
Good to Know: External activities you have already entered for the FAR can be selected in the EIAR without re-entry. You do not need to enter them twice.
Two Report, Two Paths: The FAR and EIAR open at the same time but follow separate review routes. The FAR goes through your department and school for Annual Faculty Merit Review. The EIAR is reviewed for Conflict of Commitment Policy compliance. Completing one does not complete the other — both must be submitted before your unit deadline.
