BU Faculty Development advances the intellectual growth and professional development of faculty by offering impactful educational opportunities across rank, discipline, and college. As part of the University’s mission to advance faculty excellence, BU Faculty Development partners closely with schools and colleges to foster faculty growth and excellence in support of scholarship, career success, and teaching.
The Institute for Excellence in Teaching & Learning partners with faculty across BU’s schools and colleges to advance academic innovation and elevate teaching and learning at scale. The Institute supports inclusive, evidence-based pedagogies; advances the responsible and ethical use of digital, emerging, and AI-enabled technologies; and leads initiatives such as the Shipley Academic Innovation Fund, the Large Classroom Transformation Initiative, and Campus LX, which empowers faculty to leverage BU’s next generation learning management system through the transition to Blackboard Ultra. Through these and other efforts, the Institute serves as a catalyst for academic and curricular innovation in service of student success, distinction, and impact across the University.
The Graduate & Postdoctoral Success team, within BU Graduate Affairs, supports the professional development of masters, professional, and PhD students as well as postdoctoral scholars. The office offers an expansive professional development curriculum for PhDs, postdocs, and faculty members at BU, providing workshops, panels, and training events throughout the academic year.
