We began using the working agreements in the first DEI committee in September 2020. The concept of the agreement was new to many of us. The committee collaborated and shared thoughts and opinions on how to create a meeting space where we all felt respected and heard. From there, we created a working agreement that defined how we would work together. We took a few minutes before some meetings and reviewed the agreement as a check and balance.
Why the Agreements?
- Working agreements bring team participation and engagement; and they give us the support to have brave and respectful dialogue with colleagues, team members, and managers.
- They lay the foundation for teams and help build an inclusive work environment with diverse voices.
- They are a tool that we can use for individual and community growth.
