Smarter Cities: A Roadmap for the Future

Wednesday March 13, 2013
8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Boston University, the City of Boston, and IBM invite you to a thought leadership forum focused on urban transformation – to improve quality of life for its citizens, enhance environmental sustainability, and compete in the global economy.

Through new partnerships among the academic, public sector and private sectors, Boston is creating a blueprint for a smarter city. This forum will use Boston as a backdrop for conversations exploring the city’s own efforts and how other cities can get started. Driven in part by technology, innovation and new research, the forum will also explore critical investments required to realize the potential of the Smarter Cities vision.

Experts from Boston University, the City of Boston, and IBM will discuss how:

  • Changes to one city system – such as water, buildings, transportation, etc. – impact each other, and how each of these are entry points to a Smarter City.
  • Technology that you never see, and embedded in a city infrastructure, is improving the lives of citizens.
  • New collaborative models and resource investments will drive the desired transformation.
