During July 2015, Jack McCarthy was named as Director of the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program at Boston University. He succeeds Dr. Ksenya Khinchuk, who retired from the university this summer after her distinguished service in this role for 25 years.
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program was established by President Jimmy Carter in 1978, in memory of the late Senator and former Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey. The Program is a Fulbright exchange activity funded by the U.S. Congress through the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. It provides ten months of non-degree, graduate-level study, leadership development, professional affiliations, and related opportunities for cultural exchange.
The Program invites distinguished, mid-career professionals from developing nations throughout the world who have demonstrated potential for leadership in public service to spend an academic year at sixteen participating universities. BU is the only university to have continually hosted Humphrey Fellows since the Program’s inception.
Humphrey Fellows contribute wonderful expertise and unique global perspectives from amazing part of the world to our learning community in Boston and at BU.
The Humphrey Fellowship Program was featured at the Fall 2014 EDRT Meeting on Developing a Global Mindset, where former Director Khinchuk and three Humphrey Fellows participated in a panel session entitled “Voices from There: Developing Global Leaders through the Humphrey Fellowship Program.”
