Bellow is listed in both sections, and can be found in two ways: by look–
ing up "Saul Bellow" in BooK REvmws, or by looking up "Elizabeth
Hardwick" in BOOK REVIEWERS. A special note about BOOK REVIEWS:
where the translator of the book beings reviewed is also considered to be
of interest, the book is cross-referenced under his or her name as well.
Where authorship is uncertain or pieces have been translated many times
over (e.g.,
Beowulf,
the
Iliad),
you may find the piece listed under the names
of individual translators, so look for Richmond Lattimore's translation of
the
Iliad
under his name, rather than under "Homer." Anthologies which
have no clear editor or editors are listed in a special grouping at the begin–
ning of the BooKS REVIEWED section.
Finally. the various CONFERENCES, SYMPOSIA, AND EXCHANGES held by
Partisan Review
over the years are all listed chronologically, as are EDITORIAL
STATEMENTS, while INTERVIEWS is alphabetical by interviewee. We hope
you find this cumulative index helpful, and we invite you to contact us if
you have any further questions; we would be happy to be of assistance in
your research .
