WebCAMP
WebCAMP (Web-based Center Administrative Management Program) is a software system that supports and promotes operational efficiency, tracking and evaluation at centers funded through the NIH’s Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) program. WebCAMP is also available for use at other similarly structured centers, such as institutionally funded clinical research centers and cancer centers. WebCAMP was originally developed through funding from the National Center for Research Resources and is currently supported and enhanced by the Weill Cornell Medicine CTSC in collaboration with the network of CTSAs that use the software.
WebCAMP supports multiple CTSA workflows while integrating all data into a common data model to facilitate CTSA-wide reporting cross-CTSA reporting through the Common Metrics Initiative. It supports research patient scheduling requests and request processing; allows investigators to quickly submit applications or requests for CTSA education programs, awards and resources; handles employees timesheets and an employee vacation calendar; supports the creation of investigator surveys to collect data on research project outcomes and career progress; and provides tools for research-specific cost-sharing and billing.
WebCAMP is continually enhanced with new features and other improvements. We encourage users to check for the latest build, which will always have the most recent bug fixes, performance improvements and features. WebCAMP History
Tracked CTSI activities include:
- Funding Applications & Reviews
- Education & Training Applications
- Resource Consultation Requests
- Scheduling and Utilization Tracking
- Billing
- CTSA Annual Metrics Reporting
Application and Review
ePAR is WebCAMP’s application and review module. ePAR allows CTSI administrators to create custom application formats and requirements to meet specific needs (e.g. a funding application vs. a training program application).

Billing and Cost Sharing
WebCAMP’s cost-sharing module, entitled rTABS (research Tracking and Billing System), offers a unique, research-specific approach to billing that considers not only standard costs, but also project-specific subsidies, when computing amount billed.

Investigator Surveys (PROMPTR)
PROMPTR (Progress Reporting and Outcomes Measurement to Promote Translational Research) is a module that facilitates the reporting of progress and outcomes by investigators, trainees and alumni through specialized surveys.

Participant Scheduling
WebCAMP offers broad support for the scheduling of research participant encounters and associated rooms, beds, staff and physical resources (e.g., equipment). Scheduling functionality includes:
- Support for Web-based scheduling requests by study teams: Using WebCAMP’s CUICForms module, a component of Resource Utilization Tracking, sites can create and customize request forms for participant visits and/or admissions.
- Tools to process scheduling requests: Schedulers easily review and process new scheduling requests.
- Scheduling reports: Nursing staff can generate a report of scheduled participants for a particular day, week or other time frame. Reports can be customized and can optionally include blank columns for entry of notes within the research clinic setting.
- Scheduling grid: Schedulers, nursing staff and others can view the current day’s schedule via a scheduling grid, with easy point-and-click and drag-and-drop options to adjust previously scheduled visits and mark visits as begun, completed, cancelled or no-show.
- Visit profiles: Protocol-specific visit profiles can be defined and then linked to individual visits at the time of scheduling. Profiles specify attributes of a particular visit type, which can include a detailed listing of actions to be carried out by nursing staff (procedures, blood draws, etc.) over the course of the visit. On the day of the visit, a custom flowsheet can be generated for use by nursing staff to ensure that visit requirements are carried out per the protocol. Visit profiles can also be used to auto-record of all services provided during a particular participant visit, ensuring complete data for tracking and billing purposes.
- Cost-sharing and billing: Visits (including different visit types, as defined by your site) and services provided during visits can be linked to unit costs (rates). WebCAMP’s billing and cost sharing module (rTABS) combines unit costs with records of service provision to generate bills. Project-specific budgets can specify different subsidy levels for different projects, which are then incorporated into billing to compute actual amount owed.
