Kimberly Brimhall, MSW, PhD, Director of Evaluation
Dr. Kim Brimhall, is now the Director of Evaluation and Continuous Improvement for Boston University’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute (BU CTSI). In collaboration with Assistant Director of Evaluation, Kayla Kuhfeldt, MPH, Dr. Brimhall will oversee evaluation and quality improvement initiatives. She will closely engage with the CTSI leadership to ensure alignment of data collection and continuous improvement efforts with the institute’s vision and objectives.
Dr. Brimhall, Clinical Associate Professor in the Health Law, Policy, and Management Department at Boston University School of Public Health, is a mixed-methods health services researcher specializing in improving systems-level functioning and care quality within safety net healthcare organizations. With extensive experience collaborating on community-based participatory action research, she leads multiyear projects aimed at enhancing health care quality and safety for diverse patient populations. Dr. Brimhall’s quantitative expertise spans survey development, data analysis, and evaluation of multilevel healthcare systems. Furthermore, her qualitative proficiency includes collecting and analyzing data from organizational observations, interviews, and focus groups with providers and patients.

Kayla J. Kuhfeldt, MPH, Assistant Director of Evaluation
As Assistant Director of Evaluation for the Boston University Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Ms. Kuhfeldt’s role is to collaborate with the Program Directors and staff to support the implementation of the Institute’s comprehensive evaluation plans and dashboards for each of its programs. She conducts descriptive and inferential analyses to generate effective visualizations to encourage transparency with the data using dialogue, deliberation, and problem-solving to increase awareness and understanding of program implementation needed for continuous improvement and organizational change. She is experienced in using participatory evaluation practices in engaging diverse audiences to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in assessing programs to adjust workflows to optimize people, resources, and effort to improve operations and policies. Ms. Kuhfeldt is certified in Lean Six Sigma by the Council for Six Sigma Certification.
