Annual Bioethics Conference Call for Abstracts


The 2020 Harvard Annual Bioethics Conference, “Biotechnology and the Future of Medicine,” will be held at Harvard Medical School on March 9 and 10, 2020.

This year’s conference will examine how ethics interacts with biotechnology in medicine, and will consider multiple approaches to how we might ensure that biotechnology continues to evolve ethically.

Call for Abstracts

The conference program committee is pleased to announce that abstracts for posters are now being accepted.

Submissions can be scientific posters, ethics posters, or a combination of both.

Posters will be displayed during the conference and all accepted authors are expected to share their findings during a one-hour discussion period on Monday, March 9.


Abstract Guidelines

All abstracts must be submitted online by Monday, March 2 at 5 p.m. ET.

Abstracts should include:

  • Title of project/presentation in CAPITAL LETTERS at the top of the page.
  • Your name including earned degree(s) and professional licensure (if applicable).
  • Professional or academic title(s).
  • Professional or academic affiliation(s).
  • Co-author (if applicable).
  • Your email address for conference attendees to request additional project information.
  • A description of your fieldwork, research, or other bioethics project in fewer than 300 words including:
    • Statement of purpose and/or aims of the research (and context if relevant)
    • Research questions and/or hypotheses
    • Significance
    • Approach/method/strategy
    • Key findings
    • Importance/implications

Poster Guidelines

Final guidelines for digital posters will be sent on abstract selection.
