Favorite thing about Boston (so far): The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is near and dear to me, especially the courtyard.
Writer that inspires you most: Tough to choose. Right now it’s Anne Carson.
What you wanted to be when you grew up: A lighthouse keeper
Project you’re working on at BU: I’d love to push together a series of publishable poems and set them loose on the masses.
Favorite animal: Seals. I like how they pop out of the water and just stare. (And my dog, Cooper)
Poem, story, or essay you’re most excited to put on your syllabus: “Two Guys Get Out of a Car” by Richard Brautigan
Favorite movie: Maurice (1987)
What made you want to be a writer: I had two dog stuffies named Banjo and Love as a kid, and I wanted to put the adventures they were having on a page for later.
Favorite non-water beverage: A vanilla Coke.
What made you want to apply to BU: I want to be a more confident poet and learn from all the folks with more experience.
Advice for folks considering applying to MFA programs: Just do it. Knowledge is no burden to carry.
