Visiting Professor

Andrea Cohen is the author of nine poetry collections, including Sugar (Four Way Books, 2026), The Sorrow Apartments (Four Way, 2024),  Everything (Four Way Books, 2021) Nightshade (Four Way, 2019), Unfathoming (Four Way, 2017), Furs Not Mine (Four Way, 2015), Kentucky Derby (Salmon Poetry, 2011), Long Division (Salmon Poetry, 2009), and The Cartographer’s Vacation (Owl Creek Press, 1999).

Cohen’s poems have appeared in The New YorkerPoetryThe Threepenny ReviewThe Atlantic MonthlyThe New York Review of Books, The New Republic, and elsewhere. Her awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, Glimmer Train‘s Short Fiction Award, and several fellowships at MacDowell.

Cohen grew up in Atlanta and received her MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop, where she was a Teaching-Writing Fellow. She has taught at Emerson College, UMASS-Boston, and Merrimack College, where she was the founding director of the Writer’s House. Since 2002, she has been the director of the Blacksmith House Poetry Series in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
