Dan Bohrs is the CELOP Foreign Student Advisor, in charge of confirming students’ eligibility to apply for a visa, issuing I-20 forms, and assisting students in their search for higher education options in the United States after they’ve completed their studies at CELOP. Dan has worked with international students for nearly two decades after his own experiences abroad.

Prior to joining CELOP, Dan served as the Program Director of English Language Institute at Pine Manor College, where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the program and served as the Designated School Official (DSO). This opportunity allowed him to connect with students from around the world and share insights from his own experiences living and working overseas and from his travels throughout Asia, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal, and India. Before serving as Program Director, Dan worked in Japan for two years in the Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Program and in the U.S. at a language program primarily for Japanese students, where he became Director of Admissions.

Dan earned his Bachelor of Arts in Japan Studies at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, having spent a year in Tokyo studying in the International Division at Waseda University. His experiences as an international student gave him a first-hand understanding of adjustment issues and the need for supportive cultural engagement for students living abroad. Additionally, he developed a passionate interest in Japanese film and modern literature during this period. When he’s not reading or enjoying a good movie, Dan likes to hike, especially in the fall. He also enjoys cooking and sharing his love of Boston sports with his students.
