Maxwell worked in the Bifano Lab on a project called Making Heart Tissue Dance. He created an electrical pacemaker for heart tissue engineering.

Max is a first generation student from California. When he participated in the REU program, he was a junior at the University of California, Santa Barbara where he was majoring in Physics.
