In 2021, Alex Nuñez Carrasquillo worked in the Lahann Lab focusing on biomimetic materials, advanced polymers and particle drug delivery. He designed an underlying scaffold to be able to place proteins that can stretch to emulate how heart tissues stretch.
More about My Experience
As a student doing research for the first time, Alex learned a lot about how to conduct rsearch, collect data, and organize data in a way that is useful and accessible.
His advice to future REUs is to have fun, enjoy the research, and not put too much pressure on yourself.
After completing his research experience, Alex obtained his Biomedical Engineering degree from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico.
