Apply to Become an Experiential Learning Ambassador!
The Connector’s EL Ambassadors work with senior staff to promote experiential learning to CAS students. Ambassadors offer individual and group consultations to CAS undergraduates seeking EL opportunities. They also develop and deliver workshops to the CAS community, building awareness about EL and promoting access to CAS students.
The five Divisional EL Ambassadors will represent each of the divisional areas within the College: Humanities (HU); Mathematics and Computer Science (MCS); Natural Sciences (NS); and Social Sciences (SS) and collectively have experience with the eight types of experiential learning: applied coursework; community engagement; creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial projects; fieldwork; internships; leadership; mentored research; student employment; and study/abroad away. We are seeking students who demonstrate initiative, strong communication, collaboration, responsibility and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Primary Responsibilities
- Consult with individual and small groups of CAS undergraduates seeking experiential learning opportunities on an as-needed basis
- Deliver workshops on experiential learning to CAS community, including to student organizations and other classes as needed
- Communicate on-campus and external experiential learning opportunities to students within your division and to historically marginalized and underserved populations through social media, email, newsletters, etc.
- Support Connector-wide programming events and initiatives, including by creating of social media content and/or representing the Connector at various on-campus events
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned
Requirements
- Be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior currently enrolled in CAS in good academic standing
- Have officially declared a major in CAS by the time you submit your application
- Be able to commit to working on campus in the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semester (i.e., no plans to study abroad or take leave from BU in Spring 2026)
- Have familiarity and experience with experiential learning at BU (e.g., through UROP, Study Abroad, BU Spark!, MetroBridge, the Innovate@BU, the Cross-College Challenge, or one of the many other EL Opportunities or EL Courses available) or beyond BU through employment, research, and internship
Commitment: 8-10 hours a week, including some evenings and weekend requirements, depending on programming needs.
