Julia Child, known as "the French chef," raises a glass of champagne to toast receiving the Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur – the highest award given by the French government – on November 19 at Le Meridien hotel. The black-tie gala benefited the Julia Child Scholarship Fund for students in the master of liberal arts in gastronomy program at BU’s Metropolitan College. Jacques Pepin (right), Child’s longtime friend and collaborator, acted as master of ceremonies.
