Alumni came back to campus in January to catch up with classmates, root for the Terriers, build ice sculptures, attend lectures, take a skate with the kids, and learn about artisanal cheese-making during the third annual Winterfest, January 25 through 27.
The weekend, which drew 700 alumni and their families and friends, featured plenty of Terrier sports action. The women’s ice hockey team, playing in Agganis Arena for the first time (Walter Brown Arena is their home rink), skated to a 1-1 tie with Hockey East rival University of Maine on Saturday afternoon; the Terriers beat the Black Bears 4-3 in a rematch the next day. The men’s basketball team dropped a 70-57 decision to Vermont, and the men’s ice hockey squad fell short against the University of New Hampshire 5-3.
Young Terriers enjoyed a day of activities, from relay races to arts and crafts, at Kids Fest at the Fitness and Recreation Center. Their parents, meanwhile, sat in on a variety of seminars, and they flocked to a cheese-tasting featuring handcrafted selections from several New England artisanal dairies.
